How to make a key « bootable »

To make a key bootable for Windows (or Linux !)

Before, if you wanted to install Windows on your PC, you had to use a disk drive. Then, the CD reader appeared, and eventually the DVD reader. Now that the parent cards of PC evolved, and that the USB keys’ capacities widely overtake the ones of DVD, it is possible to install Windows from a USB key.
